10 To Him who smote [e]the Egyptians in their firstborn,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
11 And brought Israel out from their midst,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
12 With a strong hand and an outstretched arm,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
13 To Him who divided the [f]Red Sea [g]asunder,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
14 And made Israel pass through the midst of it,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
15 But He [h]overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the [i]Red Sea,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
17 To Him who smote great kings,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
18 And slew [j]mighty kings,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting:
19 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
20 And Og, king of Bashan,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
21 And gave their land as a heritage,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting,
22 Even a heritage to Israel His servant,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Again, the refrain continues, “For His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Yet the focus shifts to be just a bit more personal. We started with God creating the world and all that entails. Here we see reminders of all that God did for Israel, from the time of their captivity in Egypt to receiving the promised land.
Too easily, we forget what God has done in our own lives. Or if we don’t exactly forget, we don’t think about it often enough. He doesn’t need to do anything more, yet His love continues–it is “everlasting” after all!
Sometimes we don’t feel it though, and we need reminders. Wow, I need reminders of everything, otherwise not much would get done, at least nothing productive. How much more important is it that we remind ourselves of the proof in our own lives that God is indeed loving, kind, good, and all of those things, forever?
So take a minute, or five, or ten, look back and find the times God has changed the trajectory of your life. Thank Him for it, and recommit your heart to Him one more time. His lovingkindness is everlasting, live and love like you believe that truth.
