A Psalm of Praise.
150 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty [c]expanse.
2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.3 Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise [d]the Lord.
[e]Praise [f]the Lord!
Huh, I put on a random music mix this morning, and I wasn’t paying attention so much while I read. But I finished reading, and the song that was playing said, “Sing Praise! Sing Praise! Salvation belongs to You!” It fits right in with this psalm, where we are encouraged one more time, in the final psalm, to “Praise the Lord!”
We praise Him for what He has done, but also quite simply because of who God is, “according to His excellent greatness.” Without God ever doing anything for you, He is worthy to be praised. But He has done “great things”, and has brought us not only salvation from death and sin, but restoration to a place we do not deserve.
That is, God has made us His very children, exalting us to a station unachievable by any human means. Were we perfect, and sinless, we could have no such gift, and yet it is bestowed on the heart that is humble before Him.
So one more time, with whatever means you have, not just singing, or even instruments, but with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, “Praise the Lord!”
