24 “Most blessed of women is Jael,
The wife of Heber the Kenite;
Most blessed is she of women in the tent.
25 “He asked for water and she gave him milk;
In a magnificent bowl she brought him curds.
26 “She reached out her hand for the tent peg,
And her right hand for the workmen’s hammer.
Then she struck Sisera, she smashed his head;
And she shattered and pierced his temple.
27 “Between her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay;
Between her feet he bowed, he fell;
Where he bowed, there he fell [q]dead.
Heber is mentioned earlier as one who had moved far from his people, and who was friendly with Sisera and Jabin (the king). Even so, his wife Jael seems to have had her priorities in order.
When the opportunity came, she remembered her family and her God, and decided to trust in Him. And thus she is remembered to this day as one who was faithful and did a great deed.
Do you find yourself in rough circumstances, perhaps far from those you know and love? Remember God, and He will be with you wherever you go. You can depend on Him, when you follow God in spite of your circumstances.
