31 Then he made bars of acacia wood, five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle,32 and five bars for the boards of the [bk]other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the [bl]rear side to the west. 33 He made the middle bar to pass through in the [bm]center of the boards from end to end. 34 He overlaid the boards with gold and made their rings of gold as holders for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.
35 Moreover, he made the veil of [bn]blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine twisted linen; he made it with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman. 36 He made four pillars of acacia for it, and overlaid them with gold, with their hooks of gold; and he cast four[bo]sockets of silver for them. 37 He made a screen for the doorway of the tent, of [bp]blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine twisted linen, the work of a [bq]weaver; 38 and he made its five pillars with their hooks, and he overlaid their tops and their [br]bands with gold; but their five [bs]sockets were of [bt]bronze.
Here we see that the entire inner chamber will be sealed off with the veil of the same material as the inner layer of the tabernacle. The most precious material was reserved for that which was the Holy of Holies, the place where God’s glory would come down to mankind. Unfortunately, at this point, it was not for the common man to meet with God, only the High Priest would be able to enter this area of the tabernacle, and then only once a year. What a contrast with what the writer of Hebrews says when he tells us to “come boldly” into the very throne room of God. Let us not take for granted the privilege that Jesus has bestowed upon us as children of God.
